1. Website terms of use
These terms apply to your use of chumawallet.co.za (the "website"), run by Chuma Wallet (Pty) Ltd ("Chuma", "we", "us"). By using the website, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the website.
2. Information only
Chuma Wallet is not yet available. We are preparing a pilot in Gauteng. Everything on this website is general information about what we are building. It is not:
- an offer of, or advice about, any financial product or service;
- an offer of credit, or a promise that finance will be available to anyone;
- a binding offer to enter into any partnership or agreement.
Features, images and descriptions show our plans and may change before launch. Some services will only be offered once the necessary regulatory approvals and partner agreements are in place. Any partnership will be set out in a separate written agreement.
3. Our content and brand
The Chuma Wallet name, logo, designs, text and images on this website belong to Chuma or are used with permission. You may view and share pages for personal or business reference, but you may not copy, change or use our brand or content commercially without our written permission.
4. Using this website
Please don't use the website to break the law, send false information through our contact form, try to gain unauthorised access to our systems, or interfere with how the website works.
The website may link to other websites. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content or how they handle your information.
5. Our liability
We work to keep the website accurate and available, but we provide it "as is" and can't promise it will always be complete, current or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, Chuma is not liable for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, the website. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have that cannot be limited by law, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
6. Privacy notice (POPIA)
This notice explains how we handle personal information collected through this website, under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). Chuma is the responsible party. You can reach our Information Officer at partners@chumawallet.co.za.
When the Chuma Wallet app launches, it will have its own privacy policy for traders who use it.
7. What we collect and why
| Information | Why we use it |
|---|---|
| Enquiries: your name, organisation, email address and anything else you include when you email us or use a contact form on this website | To reply to your enquiry and discuss a possible partnership. You choose to send it to us. |
| Technical information: IP address, browser type and pages requested | Collected automatically by our hosting provider to deliver and secure the website. |
We use your information only for these purposes. We don't sell it, and we will only send you news about Chuma if you ask us to or have agreed to it. You can tell us to stop at any time.
8. Who we share it with
We don't sell, rent or share your information with anyone for their own use.
Like any website, this one relies on a hosting provider to deliver its pages and an email provider for our inbox. They only handle your information on our behalf (they are "operators" under POPIA), and some may do so on servers outside South Africa. Where that happens, we take the steps required by section 72 of POPIA to keep your information protected.
We will only disclose information to anyone else if the law requires us to.
9. How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for as long as we need them to discuss a partnership with you, and for no longer than 24 months after our last contact, unless a partnership follows or the law requires us to keep them longer. We then delete them.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to keep your information safe, and we will let you and the Information Regulator know if it is ever compromised, as POPIA requires.
10. Your rights
Under POPIA, you have the right to:
- ask whether we hold information about you, and for a copy of it;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- object to us using it, or withdraw your consent;
- complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.
To use any of these rights, email partners@chumawallet.co.za. We'll respond within a reasonable time.
11. Cookies
This website does not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. It does not load anything from other companies: fonts and images are served from our own website.
